It’s a family affair! The tunes for Saturday’s Big Scioty dance will be performed by the Rosenthorns, a versatile quintet that features Mary Rekers on keyboard and daughters Rose Gowda on fiddle and Anne Cooper on flute and Irish whistle. Rounding out the Cincy-based group are Tim Stanforth on percussion and Chris Wood (of the Ripples) on guitar and bass. Together, they produce music that moves smoothly and elegantly from traditional to modern and back again.
Dances will be provided by Kim Thompson, a regular in the Athens contra scene who will be calling her first full night at Big Scioty.
