Louisville’s Hot Coffee Breakdown is new to Big Scioty. But then again, it’s not, as the same three musicians—fiddler Tom Cunningham, keyboardist Kate Sanders and drummer Luis deLeon—appeared here a few years back under the name “Decaf Zombies.” Whatever they call themselves, these talented individuals infuse their traditional and original tunes with rock, jazz and Latin rhythms to keep the energy grooving. The only thing that could make the evening more fun is the calling of Columbus’s Stephanie Schlie, who is sure to preside over the festivities with wit and skill.

Beginners welcome! Contra dance was a favorite pastime in America’s frontier days because anyone could do it. Just take the 7:30 p.m. lesson to learn a few simple moves, and you’ll be ready and eager to hit the dance floor.

Admission is $8 ($7 for Big Scioty members), $4 ($3) for ages 12-26, free for children under 12.
