Believe it or not, we’re coming up on the penultimate dance of Big Scioty’s 2018-19 season! That means you have just two more chances to dance with us before we take our summer break.
The first chance is this Saturday, when Columbus’s Andy Shewmon shares the stage with Jeanie and the Dreamers. Andy calls with so much wit and skill that he makes even the most challenging dances both fun and easy. As for the Dreamers, they hail from Athens and feature well-known regional musicians Jeanie Thieken Creamer (formerly of Home Remedy), Nick Weiland (of Hotpoint String Band) and Mark Barsamian (of Trillium and Zeke’s Fancy). Along with contra tunes, the three perform folk, pop, blues and other music that they’ve reinvented in their own unique style.
We hope you’ll join us Saturday—and we hope you’ll return on May 18, when we wrap up the season with contra icon Kathy Anderson and Louisville’s the Big Four. Admission is $8 ($7 for members), $4 ($3) for ages 12-26, with children under 12 dancing for free.
